Channeling  Picasso was inspired by total frustration with the mandatory lockdowns, limited outings, limited socializing, & watching the news of our once beautiful cities across the nation being destroyed. Blank claybord awaited me on the easel. I imagined a beautiful painting about to be composed. Complete neurotic and nonsensical marks followed. I started scribbling & mark making my frustrations using charcoal pencils and more. Then I fitfully did a colorful abstract painting over those marks. I wanted to paint a lovely Diva over it all.WRONG! The times and the mood called for the crazy guy I had studied in art school. I had also studied his wife...the one who wisely left. The eyes, the paint strokes were clearly not my style. Whatever happened afterwards is what so often happens in the art studio. The subconscious takes hold & all plans goes haywire! Therefore the title: Channeling Picasso.
